EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR BRICK BY BRICK UGANDA

Daniel Murokora, or Dr. Dan as he is known throughout Uganda is a leading obstetrician-gynecologist in Uganda. A former President of the Association of Obstetricians and Gynecologists of Uganda, Dan is a global leader in women's health and a tireless advocate for sustainable development.  Dan also directs our Babies and Mothers Alive (BAMA) Program, where he brings his 20+ years of expertise in obstetrics and public health programs.  As the Executive Director of Brick by Brick Uganda, Dan has led our slow but steady growth from a small, founder driven project, to an innovative and impactful organization working to improve the quality of education, health and economic opportunity for the communities we serve.

EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR BRICK BY BRICK PARTNERS

Marc Sklar is an obstetrician-gynecologist working in global women’s health. In 2003, while working with Dr. Daniel Murokora, he began a small project to improve the quality of Universal Primary Education schools in the Rakai District of Uganda. Through the years Marc has worked with our Board of Directors and other partners expanding our work to include the provision of safe water and sanitation systems, health education, and establishing Brick by Brick Construction Company, a locally managed social enterprise that utilizes environmentally sustainable technology while providing a sustainable source of income for our communities.

PROGRAM DIRECTOR BRICK BY BRICK UGANDA

Alice Male is an experienced Public Health professional with over 10 years of experience in Program Management.  She began working with Brick by Brick Uganda as our Program Director in August of 2016.  She has a wide background in managing public health and economic development programs around the world.  She has lived and worked in some of the poorest/rural countries of the world such as: Haiti, East Timor, Sudan, Congo, Uganda, Kenya, and Swaziland.

FINANCE AND ADMINISTRATION MANAGER UGANDA

Prossy Nakayiba has worked with Brick by Brick Uganda since 2013.  She was born and raised in the Rakai District in central Uganda.  Prossy has broad experience working for many organizations in accounting and administration over the past eighteen years.  Prossy has been a crucial member of our team, establishing the accounting systems for Brick by Brick. With the support of Brick by Brick Uganda, Prossy is now studying for a Masters Degree in Marketing, which she hopes will help our organization grow and develop.

BRICK BY BRICK CONSTRUCTION COMPANY MANAGER

David Mutesaasira is from the Bukomansimbi district. He graduated with a National Diploma in Building and Civil Engineering in 2014.  David joined Brick by Brick Construction in September of 2014.  He is pleased to have the opportunity to serve his community while working to build our company into a national leader in environmentally sustainable construction.

SCHOOL PROGRAM COORDINATOR UGANDA

Max Senyonga has many years of experience working in the education and development sectors within Rakai and Masaka Districts.  After spending twenty years as a teacher and head teacher in local primary schools, he decided he wanted to change directions and moved into community development work.  Beginning in 1991, he spent 15 years as a community worker for Concern Worldwide in Rakai District, planning, implementing, and monitoring various projects and programs.  In 2010, after meeting Dr. Marc Sklar, Max helped to start Brick by Brick Construction with Jonathan Blanchard, a Peace Corps volunteer.  Currently, Max serves as our School Program Coordinator, mobilizing local communities to improve education for their children.

MY PADS PROGRAM COORDINATOR UGANDA

Suzan Kyambadde was born and raised in Kalisizo, in the heart of the Rakai District.  In 2003, it was Suzan who introduced us to our first partnering school community, Matale Hill Primary School.  Suzan has over 25 years of experience as a practicing midwife and health educator.  With Peace Corp volunteer, Robin Rentrope, Suzan designed and implemented the My Pads Program throughout Uganda.

BABIES AND MOTHERS ALIVE (BAMA) PROGRAM COORDINATOR UGANDA

Anne Apoko has over 40 years of experience as a nurse midwife, health and hospital administrator, and clinical trainer.  Formerly she served as the Director of Nursing at Masaka Regional Hospital where she was directly responsible for a staff of over 300 nurses and midwives.  Anne began her work with BAMA helping to lead our health facility assessment of 24 health centers and hospitals in the Rakai District in 2015.

BABIES AND MOTHERS ALIVE (BAMA) PROGRAM CLINICAL DIRECTOR UGANDA

Eleanor Nakintu is an Obstetrician-Gynecologist and experienced clinical trainer and mentor.  She graduated from the Mbarara University of Science and Technology School of Medicine.  She received her Masters Degree in Obstetrics and Gynecology from the Mother Kevin Postgraduate Medical School of Uganda Martyrs University.  Dr. Eleanor works alongside her colleagues in local hospitals training and modeling evidence-based clinical practices.  She is the only obstetrician in our district of a half million people.

CHAIR

Adam Rabinovitch is currently Executive Director of Giving Open Access to Learning, Inc (GOAL) - a nonprofit educational program that provides children from under-served communities when the resources to help them get the most of their education.  Previously, he was Deputy Director of Neighbors Link Network, a Tri-State area non-profit committed to strengthening the healthy integration of immigrants in local communities.

Adam is proud to be a volunteer board member and to serve as Board Chair of Brick By Brick, a NGO and social enterprise dedicated to improving the lives of children and families in East Africa.

Adam recently launched his career in global enterprise and non -profit management with a background in the private sector and a focus on international business development.  He has more than 20 years of progressive management and supervisory experience with non-profit and for-profit organizations, along with a proven track record in business and organizational development, revenue generation, and strategic planning, with emphasis on education, poverty reduction, and social justice in under-served communities.

Adam holds a Bachelor's Degree in Foreign Service from Georgetown University.  He lives in Manhattan with his wife and their young daughter.

VICE CHAIR

Alison Amdur is a Senior Manager in marketing for American Express, focused on products and services for the Consumer Products & Services division. Prior to working at American Express, Alison was a marketing consultant to several non-profit organizations including the Institute of International Education and the American Institute of Chemical Engineers. She holds an MBA in Marketing and International Business from the Stern School of Business at NYU.

TREASURER

Benjamin Zukerman, Director & Lead Financial Officer for American Express’ PrePaid & Alternative Payments group, leads the planning & forecasting, deals and strategic analysis for the team. While at American Express, he co-founded and currently leads a 600+ member affinity group focused on developing new hires through community service, leadership and networking opportunities. He also worked at Ella Baker Elementary, a NYC public school, through the America Reads/ America Counts program for 4 years while attending NYU.

Robert Jefferson is currently CFO - Parkway Partners LLC, a private real estate investment company that invests in multi-family apartments and single family homes in multiple markets.  Robert received a bachelor's degree in Accounting from Hampton University and received his MBA from UNC - Chapel Hill with a concentration in Real Estate Development. Robert has a Finance background with experience managing multi-billion dollar P&Ls for Proctor & Gamble, Walt Disney, and American Express.

Kaddu Luyombya is a Senior Vice President in Houlihan Lokey's New York office, where he is a member of the Financial Advisory Services business.  Kaddu is a member of the National Black MBA Association and was a Consortium for Graduate Studies in Management Fellow.  He has volunteered as a tutor with Active Compassion Transforms (ACT), East Harlem Tutorial Program, and the First AME Church Education Enhancement program.  Kaddu has a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Michigan and an M.B.A. with a concentration in finance from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Kenan-Flagler Business School.  He has served as a Brick By Brick Board Member since January 2013 and currently serves as chair of the Development Committee.

Pragnesh Mandavawala is Technology Manager for a private bank. He has more than 25 years of experience in the information technology field with a concentration on building and managing applications, resources and technology. Pragnesh has served as a Brick By Brick Board Member since July 2012 and currently serves on the Program Committee.

Ronald T. Sarubbi, chair of the Perkins Coie law firm's Financial Transactions practice, leads the Corporate Trust practice, which is distinctive for its combined focus on transactional matters, defaults and bankruptcies, and indenture trustee-related litigation. He represents the corporate trust departments of banking institutions in their roles as indenture trustee, collateral agent, administrative agent, escrow agent, custodian, securities intermediary and other agency capabilities in domestic and cross-border debt capital market transactions, defaulted debt restructuring and litigation.

Ron serves as the Chair of Brick by Brick's Fundraising Committee where he has been a passionate champion for our work.

Delvida Flaherty Sene serves as a Special Associate for the Law Department of the City of New York.  She is also founder and principal at Gateway to K, a kindergarten admissions consulting agency.  Delvida has a long history working with youth and youth programs, and has served as a mentor for the youth department of the Riverside Church and the Moriah Institute of NY.  Delvida holds a B.A. in History from Spelman College and a Doctor of Laws degree from Emory University School of Law. She is a member of both the GA and NY Bar Associations.  Delvida has served as a Brick by Brick Board Member since January 2015.
