Increasing Demand for Maternal-Newborn Health Services
We use a three pronged approach to increase demand for Maternal-Newborn Health Services in Rakai and Koyera:
1) Community Health Workers (CHW):
CHW are trained public health workers who serve as a bridge between communities and health care systems
2) Social and Behavior Change Communications (SBCC):
We develop communications strategies to promote positive behaviors and increase demand for institutional healthcare facilities. Research has shown that radio is the most effective medium in our context.
3) Community Outreach: Our cadre of faith-based leaders, as well as key district government and civil society leaders, disseminate key messages at the community level to increase demand of institutional maternal and newborn services.
