Strengthening Monitoring and Evaluation of Maternal-Newborn Health Services
Babies and Mothers Alive works with local hospital administrators to improve the availability, quality and use of data in monitoring Maternal and Child Health (MCH) outcomes.
1) Data Quality Assessments
Along with district health teams, we conduct quarterly Data Quality Assessments (DQA) at the health facility level on. Working in conjunction with district health team provides an opportunity for mentor-ship and encourages district ownership of the data.
2) Clinical Audits
Brick by Brick’s clinical team conduct bi-annual clinical audits at each of our partnering health facilities. Clinical audits are performed to validate the health outcomes recorded in maternity registers.
3) Data Validation
Developed by the Babies and Mothers Alive Program in 2015, we use the Maternal and Newborn Obstetric Complication Surveys (MNOCS) to validate and record delivery outcomes at the health facility level. MNOCS captures all Maternal and Newborn Health complications and their referral status, which are not reported in DHIS2, to measure the completeness of the clients information.
